Physical activity is at the heart of new vision for the WMCA

An exciting and ambitious new plan to increase physical activity across the West Midlands is being developed.

West Midlands on the Move 2016-30 is being created by the newly vested West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) to increase physical activity levels throughout the region. Its aim is to improve the health and wellbeing of the population, which in turn will help deliver economic growth.  The plan is being developed with the support of Intelligent Health.

Martin Reeves, Chief Executive of the West Midlands Combined Authority said:

Over 30% of the West Midlands population is inactive and our vision is to improve the quality of life of everyone who lives and works in the West Midlands.  The knowledge and evidence that Intelligent Health is providing will establish the foundations to help the people in our Combined Authority reach their full potential

Dr William Bird, Chief Executive of Intelligent Health, said:

The WMCA's new physical activity plan will be a fantastic opportunity to really embed the importance of moving for the physical and mental wellbeing of individuals.  A physically active community is also a safer, happier place.  We are relishing the opportunity of working with the WMCA who are determined to deliver real and lasting change to the region
