HS2 Ltd

High Speed Two (HS2) is the new railway that will be the backbone of Britain’s transport network. High Speed Two Limited (HS2 Ltd) is the company developing and promoting the HS2 network. It is funded by grant aid from the government.

Connectivity

HS2 will place the West Midlands at the heart of the UK’s transport network, with two new stations in the region, the interchange at Solihull and the new Curzon Street Station in the centre of Birmingham.

Network Resilience

We are experiencing an unprecedented level of investment in bringing much needed improvements to the way that people and goods are able to move around the West Midlands. The challenge we face is to keep disruption to a minimum.

Curzon Street Station

Birmingham is ready to capitalise on the regeneration and economic growth opportunities that HS2 will bring to the Curzon Street area. Alongside the significant improvements in rail connectivity, HS2 will also spark a new wave of growth and development both around the new station and across the wider Midlands region.

Interchange Station

The HS2 Interchange Station will be located at The Hub, an area in UK Central Solihull near the M42. This comprises Birmingham Airport, Birmingham International Station, the National Exhibition Centre, Jaguar Land Rover and Birmingham Business Park.

With two state-of-the-art campuses in Birmingham and Doncaster, the National College for High Speed Rail - the largest of five employer-led colleges created by the Government – is tasked with seizing the opportunity to ensure British workers can learn world class rail engineering skills.
