The HS2 Interchange Station will be located at The Hub, an area at UK Central Solihull near the M42. This comprises Birmingham Airport, Birmingham International Station, the National Exhibition Centre, Jaguar Land Rover and Birmingham Business Park.
The Hub is one of four economic development areas identified by Solihull Council - along with Solihull town centre, North Solihull and Blythe Valley – jointly branded as UK Central Solihull.
With an ambition to ensure The Hub becomes a globally-renowned point of connection and a major engine for economic growth on a national scale, the Urban Growth Company (UGC) has been formed to operate on behalf of Solihull Council and is supported by the West Midlands Combined Authority.
As well as coordinating and enabling investment in infrastructure at The Hub, the UGC is also aligning the growth plans of the landowners, as outlined in The Hub Growth & Infrastructure Plan (HGIP). This anticipates that The Hub will create up to 77,500 new jobs, 775,000 sq metres of commercial space, 4,000 new homes and £4.1bn GVA every year.
