The West Midlands region has a target to be carbon neutral by 2041, but to do this we have lots of work to do.

All new homes are built to an energy-efficient standard but these form a small number of homes within the region. More homeowners in the region will be encouraged via grant funding to make energy-efficient improvements to their homes. We need tradespeople who are fully trained and qualified to carry out this work.

Retrofitting a property is about upgrading homes for increased energy efficiency and low energy consumption. This can be through a range of activities such as fitting energy-efficient lightbulbs to fitting solar heating.

Property owners are being encouraged to retrofit their homes as an energy-efficient home will be cheaper to run and will have less of an impact on the environment. A higher energy rating can also increase the value of a property.

These courses are completely FREE if you are over 19 and have been a resident in the UK for the last 3 years.

What qualifications can I gain?

The training and assessment have been designed to provide the necessary skills for the design, installation, testing, commissioning, handover, servicing and fault-finding of ground and air source heat pump systems in accordance with the latest NOS/QCF criteria and MCS scheme requirements.

This qualification helps you to develop the knowledge and practical skills required to professionally carry out inspection and testing on electrical installations. This qualification offers three pathways depending on the type of inspection and testing required or previous qualifications gained by learners.
