The platform features local information and guidance on employment, apprenticeships, studying and training as well as signposting to wider support services including mental health support and volunteering opportunities.

If you are currently studying at college or university and feel that your course isn’t the right one for you, you still have time to change direction and consider an alternative instead. In the first instance you can speak to your college or university’s student services, where you will be able to get advice and guidance and discuss your concerns.

You can also visit the Youth Employment Platform which has all the information you need including local training, employment, apprenticeships, studying, CV and careers advice and mental health support. There is plenty of support available to help you explore your options and consider your next step.

Learn Live - Swap Don’t Drop Webinar

Join us at our Swap Don’t Drop webinar, with Learn Live on Tuesday 13 October, 2020. The event will feature the options available to young people across the West Midlands, particularly those considering dropping out of education or who were unable to secure a place in September.

The event will be streamed live 1.30pm-3.30pm and will be split into 4 different sections, focussing on further education, apprenticeships, employment and support. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.

If you've struggled with interviews and job applications before, a work placement will give you a better chance to show what you're made of. Once you're in the door, providing you work hard, you could get offered the chance to stay. Whatever happens, you’ll definitely get some great experience to add to your CV.

Looking to get into the construction industry?

Take a look at Construction Gateway, it provides a powerful lift up to help build your career.

If you are aged 19 or over Construction Gateway can provide you with six weeks free training for entry level construction jobs. You will gain a CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) which is your gateway to any construction site, without this it’s impossible!

We work with employers to design training based on the skills you need , This way you’ll get the right skills to hit the ground running for a future in modern construction and everyone that completes the course is guaranteed an interview with an employer looking for the skills that you will learn.
