Progression Coaches

Sales I23

Progression Coaches are specialist Jobcentre Plus coaches who focus on supporting young people aged 18-24 into work. Support is tailored to the needs of young people and continues even after they have found work.

Progression coaches form part of the West Midlands Apprenticeship Promise. The promise aims to provide all 16-to-24-year-olds support to get an apprenticeship or training opportunity in a bid to cut youth unemployment in the region.

The coaches will work exclusively with young unemployed people in the West Midlands to help them find and secure job opportunities, training or apprenticeships. The scheme pays particular attention to young people who currently experience the most challenges in accessing the labour market, including those who lack good qualifications and those like care leavers and young homeless.

The programme will also target young people who may lack access to the wide range of professional and technical roles available in the region.

The project is being delivered by Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) with support from WMCA.
