The Mayor represents 2.8m residents. They seek investment and champion the region.

The Mayor’s role

Richard Parker was elected as Mayor of the West Midlands in 2024. He is chair of the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA). He is currently in office until May 2028.

What the Mayor does

The Mayor represents about 2.8m people in:

  • Birmingham
  • Coventry
  • Dudley
  • Sandwell
  • Solihull
  • Walsall
  • Wolverhampton

His focus for the West Midlands is:

  • economic growth in the region
  • improving our transport network
  • improving housing in the region
  • tackling unemployment and developing jobseekers’ skills
  • tackling homelessness
  • improving air quality
  • improving relationships between different parts of the community in the region

The Deputy Mayor

Birmingham councillor Sharon Thompson was appointed Deputy Mayor of the West Midlands in 2024.

Her role as Deputy Mayor will see her support the Mayor in delivering the region’s key priorities and act as an ambassador for the West Midlands.

You can speak with WMCA customer services by calling 0121 200 2787.

The opening hours are Monday to Tuesday and Thursday to Friday, 9am - 5pm
Wednesday, 9.30am - 5pm
Saturday and Sunday, closed

Any calls out of hours will be taken by reception.
