HS2 Land Release Clears Path for First Phase of Arden Cross

Development land around the HS2 Interchange Station in Solihull will be available from 2030  to allow commercial development to come forward. This provides a significant opportunity to provide jobs and homes ahead of the railway opening at one of the UK’s most significant regeneration opportunities.

The date has been confirmed by the Department for Transport, following the HS2 Reset announcement. It creates a clear pathway for the Arden Cross HealthTech Campus – the first phase of the wider masterplan – to move into detailed planning and delivery preparation ahead of land becoming available.

Arden Cross Ltd, Muse, and the University of Warwick will now accelerate the next phase of the proposals, including the development of a joint masterplan and engagement with potential partners and occupiers.

The announcement reflects a collaborative approach between HS2, the Department for Transport, and delivery partners to unlock regeneration opportunities around the Interchange Station and accelerate long-term growth.

Richard Parker, Mayor of the West Midlands, said: “Arden Cross is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create high-paid jobs, grow our cutting-edge businesses and provide the new homes our people need. This is prime site next to the new HS2 Interchange Station, that is why we have invested here.

Land can now be released earlier than originally anticipated, ahead of the Interchange Station being completed, while consolidating car parking requirements to maximise the regeneration potential of Arden Cross.

Once complete, Arden Cross will deliver tens of thousands of jobs, and thousands of new homes, along with a nationally significant HealthTech ecosystem – which will drive significant economic growth across the Midlands and the UK.

Drawing on the innovation pedigree of the University of Warwick, the Campus will support established life sciences clusters across the Midlands – enabling HS2 to link future innovation powerhouses in the North and South.

It will bring together a bespoke public-private-academic partnership with cutting-edge research, investors, and the NHS. It will support start-ups and scale-ups to develop new digital and AI solutions, positioning the West Midlands as a world leader in HealthTech innovation.
