Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) today released new CGI images of Dudley Interchange, offering the public a captivating first look at the inside of the multi-million pound state-of-the-art facility.
These internal layout images showcase the modern, passenger-focused design that will transform public transport in the heart of Dudley, enabling passengers to seamlessly link between bus and the new Metro services.
Commuters and residents will see the new modern interchange, which is being built by the contractor Taylor Woodrow, take shape over the coming months. It is expected to open in Spring 2026.

Richard Parker, Mayor of the West Midlands, said: “Close to £1bn is being invested in the regeneration of Dudley town centre so it’s only right that visitors are given a suitably impressive experience on arrival.
“This new Interchange, with its sleek, modern design, will provide that quality gateway to the town for bus and Metro passengers alike.
“Dudley is a town on the up and I’m backing that renaissance with new transport links and other investments to drive the economic growth, jobs and affordable homes that local people need and deserve.”
Councillor Patrick Harley, Leader of Dudley Council, added: "The Dudley Interchange is a cornerstone of our town's revitalisation. Through seamless connections between bus and the forthcoming Metro, this interchange will make a monumental difference to those living, working, and visiting Dudley.
"It’s a key piece of the puzzle in creating a vibrant and prosperous future for our borough, and these new visuals perfectly illustrate that ambition."

TfWM which is part of the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), wants to ensure the new building reflects the rich history and diverse communities of Dudley. Between now and the opening, TfWM will actively engage with local schools, colleges, and community leaders to include local heritage and identity into the interior design and feel of the interchange. Further updates on these exciting community collaborations will be announced in due course.
Jo Shore, Delivery Director for Transport for West Midlands, commented: "We firmly believe that this new interchange should be more than just a transport hub; it should be a true reflection of Dudley's unique character.
“We’re excited to work hand-in-hand with local schools, colleges, and community groups to ensure it reflects the history and vibrancy of the area. This collaborative approach will make the interchange a truly welcoming and representative space for everyone."
The new Dudley Interchange includes:
- A modern, two-storey facility with comfortable waiting areas and live travel information screens.
- Improved accessibility features and enhanced safety for all users.
- Environmental benefits to reduce carbon footprint consistent with the region's net-zero carbon ambition.
- Seamless connectivity between bus services and the Wednesbury to Brierley Hill Metro extension, providing improved links to jobs and leisure opportunities across the West Midlands, including frequent services to Wolverhampton, Birmingham, and eventually Merry Hill Shopping Centre.

TfWM is also dedicated to supporting local businesses throughout the construction period. As part of this commitment, TfWM will be hosting a Spring Fair on Saturday, 14 June at Birdcage Walk. This event will provide a fantastic opportunity for residents to engage with the project team, learn more about the interchange, and support local traders.
This landmark project is a key part of the wider regeneration of Dudley town centre, creating a more sustainable and accessible transport network for the West Midlands.
