Opportunity for Birmingham residents to speak to Richard Parker, Mayor of the West Midlands

Published: Tuesday 06 May 2025

Residents of Birmingham will get the chance to ask Richard Parker, the Mayor of the West Midlands any questions they may have about his policies and priorities.

The final Ask the Mayor Anything event of this series is set for Tuesday, May 13 from 6pm to 7pm at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, Chamberlain Square Birmingham B3 3DH.

Places are free but residents are encouraged to book using Eventbrite to guarantee their place, with over 100 people signed up already.

So far, over 175 residents have taken part in the Q&A events held across all other local authority areas in the WMCA region, with venues including the Mander Centre in Wolverhampton, The Link in Walsall, Coventry’s Job Shop, Solihull College & University Centre, the Black Country Living Museum, and West Bromwich Central Library.

The events have seen residents raise a wide range of issues from crime and transport to housing, jobs, the cost of living, the environment, and more. The sessions have also signposted residents to local initiatives such as Path2Apprenticeships, Workwise, and the bus franchising consultation.

Richard Parker, Mayor of the West Midlands, said:  “These Q&A events have played a vital role in keeping me connected to the people I represent, giving residents the chance to speak to me directly, raise their concerns, and ask questions about the issues that matter most to them.

“Over the past year, these conversations have helped shape how we deliver more social homes, improve the bus network, and tackle youth unemployment, while also helping to connect people to support and opportunity along the way.

“This final event in Birmingham is another chance to be heard. If you care about the future of your community, I want to hear from you.”
