WMCA Work Experience Survey
The Work Experience survey aims to provide a clear and honest picture of how experiences of the workplace are currently delivered in schools, while identifying both challenges and opportunities in provision.
The Government has recently signalled its intention to review and expand work experience provision in secondary education, recognising its vital role in preparing young people for the world of work and driving economic growth.
In response, the Careers & Enterprise Company (CEC) is developing a more flexible, meaningful, and impactful approach to work experience. To support this evolving agenda, the Education Insight Questions (a structured survey) were co-developed by CEC, Careers Hubs, and school-based colleagues.
This insight report presents findings from the most recent survey, conducted between January and April 2025 across the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) area.
