A total of £4.1m was invested to enhance the regional legacy for arts and culture following the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
The region’s cultural sector played a key part in making the Commonwealth Games a memorable event through the opening ceremonies and the cultural festival.
The legacy fund for culture and heritage was aimed at making our cultural offer more accessible and to enhance the role that arts, culture and heritage can play in creating great places to live.
This was delivered through:
- Grants to our seven constituent local authorities to support creative commissions and place-based work.
- A cultural sector-specific skills and business support programme.
- Grants to support international cultural and artistic exchange.
- Developing strategic plans across the region to make it easier for us to attract more investment and work better together.
