Youth Employment Platform

The Youth Employment Platform is a dedicated website where young people can explore the employment and skills support available in the West Midlands. The platform features local information and guidance on employment, apprenticeships, studying and training as well as signposting to wider support services including mental health support and volunteering opportunities.

Ever thought about a work placement?

They give you the power to show your worth whilst you gain the experience you need to get started! If you've struggled with interviews and job applications before, a work placement will give you a better chance to show what you're made of. Once you're in the door, providing you work hard, you could get offered the chance to stay. Whatever happens, you’ll definitely get some great experience to add to your CV.

There are vacancies on offer in the Midlands ranging from traditional skills like bricklaying to cutting-edge digital marketing! There’s a much bigger range of options than most people believe.

There’s a local college close to you where you can choose from hundreds of full-time and part-time courses.

Looking to get into the construction industry?

Take a look at Construction Gateway, it provides a powerful lift up to help build your career.

If you are aged 19 or over Construction Gateway can provide you with six weeks free training for entry-level construction jobs. You will gain a CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) which is your gateway to any construction site, without this it’s impossible!

We work with employers to design training based on the skills you need, This way you’ll get the right skills to hit the ground running for a future in modern construction and everyone that completes the course is guaranteed an interview with an employer looking for the skills that you will learn.

Save on travel

If you're aged 16-18 and living in the West Midlands, our FREE 16-18 photocard allows you to continue buying child single, return and season tickets for the bus, train and tram. This can save you up to 50% off travel to school, college or work.

If you’re over 18 and going to university or starting a new job there are other travel offers available that could save you money.
