Member of the Community Environment Network Advisory Group

Mary Kennedy

Operations Director at Birmingham Open Spaces Forum

I am the Operations Director for Birmingham Open Spaces Forum which brings together and develops volunteer groups within Birmingham who care for green open spaces.  We have approximately 130 groups, who by registering with us, can access support with their governance structures, information, free insurance if working on Birmingham Council land and access to fundraising services.

We provide many opportunities for our volunteer groups to network and learn from each other and their concerns and opinions are harnessed and fed back to Birmingham Council who as far as they can, respond positively including shaping strategic policy.

Being part of this network will allow us to share valuable information with our members and also, provide grassroots feedback for members of this network.  Insightful collaboration will strengthen the environmental movement; we can learn from each other and as a collective, will have an informed, passionate, assertive and influential voice.

Advisory Group Role - Community Representative

Mary will support the Network to develop strong links within communities in order to ensure the Network delivers the right type of support to community groups and will aid in growing the Networks membership.
