Claire L Watkins
Community Development Officer - Midlands & East - England Team for The Ramblers
Becoming part of the advisory group offers a chance to actively contribute to shaping and influencing local policy through open and constructive dialogue with West Midlands Combined Authority and Local Authorities. I’m excited about creating connections, championing collaboration, and influencing how our communities adapt, thrive, and lead the way in sustainability.
I bring significant experience in community engagement within the West Midlands area and peer-led learning, and I’m eager to help build skills and confidence across the network, supporting others to lead initiatives and share their impact. I’m also enthusiastic about supporting organisations to better communicate their achievements, measure social value, and connect across the region to strengthen collective impact.
My aim is to help link environmental projects to the everyday priorities of local people whether that’s cleaner air, access to nature, or reducing waste in practical, empowering ways. I’m especially committed to reaching and amplifying underrepresented voices, ensuring that climate action can be responded to and reduce the impacts of climate hazards is both inclusive and relevant to a wider demographic while being flexible and adaptable within the communities we work within.
Advisory Group Role - Inclusive Communities Lead
Claire will ensure the Network is diverse and supports a wide range of community groups, that aren’t environment focused. They will support the Network in developing strong links to community groups who focus on, but not limited to, faith, disabilities, homelessness, youth support or underrepresented communities.
