Perminder Balu 

Head of Net Zero (Green Cities and Circular Economy) at City of Wolverhampton Council. 

Perminder is a Chartered Surveyor with over 25 years across private sector, public sector and freelancing, building a wealth of experience in environmental matters. Currently he is Head of Net Zero (Green Cities and Circular Economy) at City of Wolverhampton Council.

He started his career in the aggregates and waste management sectors, then transitioned into land reclamation and creation of wildlife habitats before spending serval years delivering active travel corridors across the West Midlands and highway safety schemes.

He has been volunteering in various capacities since the 1990’s, initially, as a Conservation Operative, then in Community related matters as leading into a School Governor for 12 years and Committee Member of the Warwickshire Coventry and Solihull Local Access Forum for 10 years. He is now a Non-Executive Director of Sustainability West Midlands and also creates time to visit schools, colleges, corporate events and interest groups representing the charity WaterAid to highlight the global human rights issues relating to lack of; Clean Water, Decent Toilets and Good Hygiene.

 

Advisory Group Role - Local Authority Lead

Perminder will support in linking local authority led schemes into the Network and supporting with outreach.
