Member of the Community Environment Network Advisory Group

Janet Vaughan

Holyhead Road Allotments

Our allotments project showed me that low-cost nature-based climate adaptation measures are accessible and effective, creating positive feedback loops that build individual and community confidence and agency.

As a parent, allotmenteer, artist and community activist, my main interest is bringing people together; sharing knowledge and experience to inspire/support action.

Nature-friendly gardening and food growing are key to this work: connecting creativity, community-building, food sovereignty, habitat creation, health and wellbeing, skill-sharing and the joyfully reciprocal nature of the care between land and grower.

I am part of the Community Environment Network Advisory Group because I want to encourage climate resilience at a community level, connecting this with more strategic initiatives, building our collective sense of purpose, and achieving people-powered change.

Advisory Group Role - Community Representative

Janet, along with Mary and Balbir, will support the Network to develop strong links within communities in order to ensure the Network delivers the right type of support to community groups and will aid in growing the Networks membership.
