Sharing learning across the West Midlands to support environment action


All events are open to Community Environment Network members only. Join the Network to be able to attend any of the events. 


The Community Environment Network aims to connect community groups working on environment action, boost their efforts, and also inspire and support new groups. 

We will be hosting a variety of events for Network members to attend for free to help share learnings and support each other on their environment work.  

Friday 10th October 2025

Walsall Community Environment Day 

Location: Manor Farm Community Association, King George Crescent, Walsall, WS4 1EU

Time: 11 - 2pm

Manor Farm Community Association are hosting a special event for the Community Environment Network to host a vibrant gathering of community organisations where you can;

● Connect with local community organisations 

● Discover advice and inspiration for your own projects 

● Take part in hands-on practical workshops ran by Roots to Fruit, an award winning Horticulture Specialist Social Enterprise. Workshops you can join;

- Learning how to take your own plant cuttings. Perfect for those of us wanting to learn more gardening skills. 

- Woodwork workshop to learn how to craft your own peg to take home. 

Whether you're already involved in community work or just getting started, this event is a fantastic opportunity to learn, share, and grow together!

Parking is available on site and you can find the best public transport route for you by using the TfWMs Journey Planner. 

Lunch will also be provided. 

Wednesday 15th October 2025

Acocks Greener Nottingham Trip 

Acocks Greener are inviting Network members to join their day trip to Nottingham to learn more about energy innovation. The day includes;

Visiting the University of Nottingham's 'City as Lab' 3D model of Nottingham and hear about their collaborations with MOZES and Nottingham Energy Partnership which explores the feasibility of different energy sources and storage. 

In the afternoon you will visit the Green Meadows Project to learn about;

  • their Future-Fit Energy Audits and advice
  • their actions to support DIY retrofit: training, pattern book of measures for different building archetypes, tool share, community retrofit house
  • community activities: planting, community engagement
  • transport
  • open house events

Sunday 19th October 2025

Ekho Collective Everwild Festival 

Location: Hawbush Community Gardens, Brierly Hill, Dudley, DY5 3NQ

Time: 12 - 5pm 

Followed by an interactive musical evening 5 - 7pm

Open to all to attend this family fun day to see the interactive outdoor activities Ekho Collective run at their festivals including Drum Runners who will be hosting drumming workshops. 

The Festival will deepen our connection to the local landscape and wildlife, through activities that interweave the beauty and power of the seasons with the value of being in community, encouraging us to reflect and participate in nature’s shifts throughout the year.

Activities suitable for all ages and abilities will be offered ; nature trails, planting and growing, sound baths, nature crafts, and music. We will explore traditional heritage crafts such as blacksmithing, greenwood work, weaving, fire-bricks and mini chain-making with wire, that connect us to our collective local history. 

You do not need to sign up to attend this event, please turn up on the day and enjoy the festival.

Art Meets the Environment: A Creative Exploration 

Location: Signing Tree Venue, Deaf Cultural Centre, 100 Ladywood Road, B16 8SZ

In partnership with BVSC, join us an inspiring day of workshops and networking that explore how art and science can come together to spark environmental change.

Whether you're working with communities, children, or on your own creative projects, this event is packed with ideas and support to help you grow your impact.

What’s happening?

  • Creative workshops on engaging your local community with the environment through art and science
  • Funding masterclasses to help you apply for support for your environmental work
  • Meet local funders at our stalls and share your ideas and projects
  • Learn how to get funding for the work that matters to communities
  • Learn how to resource creativity to engage with your local community on the environment

Lunch will be provided.
