Groundwork West Midlands
The Community Environment Network aims to connect community groups working on environment action, boost their efforts, and also inspire and support new groups.
Throughout March, Groundwork delivered a range of activities at The People's Patch and the John White Community Centre for anyone to join.
These sessions provided opportunities for local residents to get involved in improving their natural environment through hands-on experiences, regardless of prior knowledge or experience.
The programme included regular gardening and craft sessions, which took place weekly and offered a consistent way for participants to engage with nature and develop practical skills. In addition, orchard planting events enabled volunteers to contribute directly to enhancing biodiversity and creating lasting green infrastructure within the community.
Other activities, such as wellbeing walks and additional gardening sessions, supported both environmental and personal wellbeing by encouraging people to spend time outdoors and connect with others.
