Severn Rivers Trust
The Community Environment Network aims to connect community groups working on environment action, boost their efforts, and also inspire and support new groups.
Severn Rivers Trust is an environmental charity working to protect and enhance the river Severn and its tributaries and streams.
As an action-based charity, during March they are recruiting volunteers in and around Dudley to survey the river Stour.
Volunteers will be fully trained on how to take water and visual samples of the river to assess it's health.
Two events will be taking place in March, titled: ‘River Stour Water Quality and Pollution Monitoring Training’. These events will be taking place on:
- Monday 16th March
Meeting 10am at Cradley Community Centre (34 Colley Ln, Halesowen B63 2TL) for indoor training, followed by a visit to the River Stour. - Saturday 21st March
Meeting at 9.30am at Quarry Bank Community Centre (Sheffield Street, DY5 1EA) for indoor training, followed by a visit to the River Stour.
Results from the surveys will be shared with Severn Trent, the region's water company, to support with their work to reduce river pollution.
Surveying will take place around Stourbridge and Lye. Full details to come.
