Raising Awareness

As we can't see air pollution, it's sometimes hard to engage people to understand the problem.

There is no safe level of air pollution and research by the University of Birmingham reveals that up to 2300 die prematurely in the West Midlands due to exposure to air pollution.

Air Quality Alert System

If you work with people who have poor health, you may want to raise awareness of the new Air Quality Alert System.

Anyone can sign up and can receive an alert when there is a medium - very high pollution alert.

Find out more on our Clean Air West Midlands Website.

The advice given through the Alert System has been support by NHS respiratory clinicians.

Air Quality Where You Are

We have installed 90 sensors across the region, where you can see near real time air quality data.

You can see the graphs and data to understand what air quality is like where you are.

Visit the data dashboard on our Clean Air West Midlands website

Engaging with your community

We commissioned artist Claire Witcomb to deliver art workshops with 7 community groups across the region to help visual the health issues associated with air pollution.

Claire has produced a flipbook to showcase this artwork and provide inspiration for other artists, or community groups, to use art as a way to engage people on environmental topics.
