Building on Success

With over £1billion secured since 2018 to support housing and regeneration schemes, devolution has given the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) greater control to tackle barriers impacting delivery, to acquire land and buildings, and de-risk regeneration across the West Midlands.

This has been a game-changer for the region and has enabled the identification, unlocking and redevelopment of the most challenging brownfield sites, delivering new high-quality homes, communities and places.

WMCA work with a broad range of partners to enhance delivery and unlock investment across our housing and land portfolio, including our constituent and non-constituent Local Authorities, the Department for Levelling Up Housing & Communities, Homes England, Registered Providers, developers and investors operating in the West Midlands.

Our strong partnership approach has put WMCA on track for meeting the ambitious target of delivering 215,000 new homes by 2031 and is evident through the following case studies:

What we're doing

Lockside

Transformed Caparo site in Walsall now hosts a community and 252 homes, 78 of which are affordable homes, thanks to £4.1M WMCA funds.

West Longbridge

New Birmingham neighborhood: 350 homes, 900k sq ft business park, 5,000 jobs with a £6million WMCA grant transforming a derelict site.

Spirit Quarters

Coventry estate redevelopment: 94 homes on 5.5 acres, boosted by £1million WMCA investment, led by Keepmoat Homes and transforming the area.
