Screen Industry Body

Screeindustry

The Screen Industry Body was launched in October 2019 to boost the West Midlands’ TV, Film and Gaming industries.

The industry-led body aims to revolutionise the current screen industry by helping to drive growth and investment, creating thousands of new jobs for the region.

The West Midlands has a strong existing screen industry with success stories including Peaky Blinders, Ready Player One and Leamington Spa’s gaming cluster. However, after learning from the region’s Channel 4 bid and engaging with industry leaders we understand that there is more that can be done to support this sector.

The four key aims of the body include the following:

  1. Develop a single delivery plan and help turn strategy into action.
  2. Secure and deliver both public and private funds.
  3. Commission a variety of programmes of activity.
  4. Both lobby and promote the West Midlands screen industry.

The Screen Industry Body was developed by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) in conjunction with the region’s three Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) and is chaired by Deloitte’s international industry heavyweight, Ed Shedd.
