Coventry & Warwick Investment Zone

At the heart of the UK’s EV and battery ecosystem, Coventry & Warwick Investment Zone is the only UK Gigapark site with planning permission. With a wealth of world-leading battery and EV industry and research and development close at hand, Coventry and Warwick Investment Zone has the infrastructure, scale and central location to enable full supply chains, skills and logistics development.

Overview of Coventry-Warwick Investment Zone:

  • Site straddles the border of Coventry LAD and Warwick DC.
  • 241-ha, made up of four distinct sites – Whitely East, Whitley South, Greenpower Park and SEGRO Park.
  • Focussed on development of battery technology and green advanced manufacturing.
  • Benefits from business retention rates and tax incentives.
  • The partners are Coventry City Council, Warwick District Council and Warwickshire County Council, Segro and Rigby Group.

In the first five years of the West Midlands Investment Zones, the capital funding of £23m for Coventry & Warwick Investment Zone, funded by WMCA will develop the site in the following way:

  • Make Greenpower Park (currently the site of Coventry Airport) ready for the development of new commercial units; this is the first phase of development works at Greenpower Park to be development ready.
    • This involves the delivery of installing 30 MVA (Mega Volt Ampere) power infrastructure for the site and further site works and design work to inform Phase 2 of Greenpower Park development, which will enable the first stage of battery manufacturing production to take place.
