Wolverhampton Green Innovation Corridor

The £27 million Green Innovation Corridor (GIC) is a major regeneration project in Wolverhampton, UK, aimed at creating an innovation district focused on green construction, engineering, and digital technologies.

The project, a joint initiative by the City of Wolverhampton Council and the University of Wolverhampton, has secured funding from the UK Government and the West Midlands Combined Authority and attained West Midlands Investment Zone status to attract investment and create jobs. 

Wolverhampton’s Green Innovation Corridor (GIC) enhances the city’s reputation as a world-leading research cluster in green technologies. Spanning from the city centre, through the University of Wolverhampton Springfield Campus and Science Park and connecting to the world-leading i54 Business Park at the northern end of the corridor, the Green Innovation Corridor represents a paradigm shift towards sustainable manufacturing, propelled by cutting-edge technologies, a strong supply chain and a highly skilled, diverse talent pool.

  • Spanning Wolverhampton City Centre, to the University of Wolverhampton and the world-leading i54 Business Park.
  • The GIC aspires to be a world-leading research-led cluster in green technologies.
  • The WMIZ is supporting development on 2ha of brownfield land to accelerate the provision of commercial floor space.
  • The partners are City of Wolverhampton Council and University of Wolverhampton.
