Aspire 4 U CIC

The Community Environment Network aims to connect community groups working on environment action, boost their efforts, and also inspire and support new groups.

Aspire 4 U CIC community garden in the heart of Dudley Town centre is a small, urban green space where visitors and volunteers can enjoy quiet.

As part of their Nature Call to Action campaign, they worked with the local community and volunteers to create a 'QR Code Garden' where visitors can scan the QR codes to discover stories, sounds and information about the plants, habitats and wildlife around them.

Some of the activities that took place included:

  • Nature mapping session, including a guided garden walk to identify areas for pollinator planting, bird feeders, and wildlife habitats
  • Upcycling activities, such as painting and repurposing tyres to create new planters
  • Nature storytelling, involving writing and recording stories about plants and habitats
  • Pollinator-friendly planting to create and enhance habitats
  • Installation of bird feeders to support local wildlife
  • Testing and development of the interactive QR nature trail around the garden
  • Creation of an interactive QR Code Garden for visitors to explore nature digitally and physically
  • Community open day and launch event for the QR Nature Trail
