Social Economy Drive 2025
The Social Economy Drive is an opportunity to find out more about the amazing work these organisations do to improve the lives of disadvantaged people and communities. This will consist of a series of events between the 17th and 21st November.
The Social Economy Awards on Thursday 20th is an opportunity to recognise organisations delivering social value and inspiring excellence within the sector.
Nominations for the 2nd Social Economy Drive Awards are now open. There are 12 categories:
- Excellence in Community Impact
- Excellence in Creative Impact
- Excellence in Tech Impact
- Excellence in Health Impact
- Excellence in Green Impact
- Excellence in Youth Impact
- Start Up Enterprise of the Year
- Cooperative of the Year
- Community Business of the Year
- Social Enterprise of the Year
- Public Sector organisation of the Year
- Corporate organisation of the Year
Plus, the judges will select an individual or organisation that has made an extraordinary or lifetime contribution to the Social Economy.

Schools Programme
Career decisions are often made during teenage years or younger. WMCA will embark on a programme aimed at making young people aware of the wide range of career opportunities available in the Social Economy. After all, it currently employs almost 103,000 people and we aim to double that.
Social Economy Directory
We are currently in the process of categorising and classifying 9,314 records of Social Economy organisations to produce an online searchable directory of products, services and social purpose to help public sector commissioners and private sector buyers buy social.
